Christmas Shoebox Project & Party
Join us for our annual Christmas Shoebox Project Party. Each December, we assemble teams of Rotaractors or friends to put together shoeboxes full of essentials for women impacted by homelessness and have a party while we do it. Before the event, teams go shopping to fill a shoebox with essential supplies an unsheltered woman might need. Then, at the party, we all wrap the boxes for Christmas, and our president drops them at the donation location. We also buy extra supplies to fill a few additional boxes and help people top theirs up. The event also includes a white elephant gift exchange, party games, holiday music, and more. It is BYOB, so bring snacks! It is one of our favorite events of the year, and we hope you can join us!

About the Cause
The Shoebox Project for Women is an unaffiliated, non-religious Canadian charity that supports women experiencing or at risk of homelessness and that celebrates diversity, builds awareness, challenges stigma, and promotes equity.
Their Approach
- Through volunteer-led gift drives that benefit women who are impacted by homelessness, we build compassionate and connected communities.
- By distributing essentials of daily living to shelters and community agencies, we support women and gender-diverse people facing income inequality.
- By building awareness and educating youth, we challenge stigmas, fight discrimination, and promote equity.
Meeting Instructions
Please reserve your spot for the event at least a week in advance so that we can assign you to a shoebox team. Our Community Services Director will assign you to a team and give you all the instructions you will need. The event venue is right on Granville St beside the mall, so the transit or sky train is easily accessible. Free parking IS NOT available.
What should you bring?
- BYOB, a snack or food item to share
- Their shoebox essentials,
- A white elephant gift worth $20 or less (if you do not wish to participate in the white elephant, that is fine),
- Wrapping paper and a shoe box (if you have any).
